Moscow International Chamber Music Festival

The Festival was founded in 2001 with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia Alexiy the Second.

From April, 5 till April, 13th the Spring in Russia »will take place X1 the International festival of chamber music«.
Founders of festival - Department of culture of a city of Moscow, the Moscow institute of socially - cultural programs, the State quartet of P.I.Tchaikovsky, Association of Winners of the International competition of P.I.Tchaikovsky,
This year – among founders of festival became also ÃÓÊ the Moscow concert,
The support has declared Fund the Opera. As well as last years, festival support are rendered by the International University in Moscow, students and teachers of this University, and also the Society of fans of music of Mozart, artistic agency Sovinart.

The artistic director - the honoured artist of Russia, the soloist of a quartet P.I.Chajkovskogo Sergey Baturin.
The project head - the director of the Moscow institute of socially - cultural programs, the doctor of sociological sciences Vladimir Kirillovich Sergeev.
The festival is devoted anniversaries by D.Bortnjanskogo, (260 years from the date of a birth), V.Bellini (210 years), F.Lista (200 years), A.Dvorak (170 years), B.Bartoka, (130), N.Mjaskovskogo, (130), S.Prokofiev (120). will appear this year programs new interesting and unusual to our festival. We will not speak yet about it. Let it will be a surprise for our public.
As well as last years, participants of festival become both already known, and young musicians, winners of prestigious international competitions, executors from Russia and foreign countries. Musicians already have declared the desire to take part in festival from Croatia, to Czechia, Hungary. Among the Russian musicians, the State quartet of P.I.Tchaikovsky, and also young winners of prestigious foreign competitions.
Concerts will take place in halls of the State museum of A.S.Pushkin, the Moscow conservatory, in Embassy of Czechia and other halls of foreign representations.
Traditionally at festival the charitable project «Children – to Children» where young musicians will address to children with the limited physical possibilities, pupils of children's homes and boarding schools will be presented.

Chamber Music is one of the subtlest spheres of music performance – it possesses great emotional influence not only on the refined music lovers but also can invite wide audience to enjoy the High Art. This very idea, which was put forward by the Tchaikovsky String Quartet, has become the basic motto for the Festival founders.


The Moscow Culture Committee, the United Scientific – Methodical Center, Tchaikovsky State String Quartet shall traditionally arrange the Third Moscow International Chamber Music Festival - “Spring in Russia”. The idea of founding this Festival belongs to the Tchaikovsky Quartet.

The Director of the project is Mr. V.Sergeev, Merited Artist of Russia.

The Artistic Director of the project is Mr. S.Baturin, Merited Artist of Russia.

Traditionally the Festival is dedicated to the great composers’ jubilee dates. This year the festival will celebrate the jubilees of J.Brahms and S.Rachmaninoff. The Festival motto is “Love, Peace and Music”, and it is in harmony with the music by J.Brahms.

The Festival aims include:

  • popularization of the chamber music
  • revealing new performers
  • development of creative ties between musicians worldwide.

Both renowned and young musicians from Russia, Czech Republic, Hungary, USA, Sweden, France, etc., are invited to take part in the venue.

One of the Festival divisions is “Debut” nomination, which is joined by young musicians – scholarship holders of the Spivakov Foundation, E.Bystritskaya Foundation.

The Festival shall be held in the best concert halls of Moscow. Mozart Society headed by its President Mrs. G.Pisarenko, Peoples Artist of Russia, takes active part in the Festival activity.

This year the Festival announces prizes for the best performance of music by Mozart, Brahms and Rachmaninoff.
